A cup of tea and a comfortable seat
The Arlington, VA / Washington, DC area provided a capital setting for the Malice Domestic conference, an annual celebration of the mystery. For the uninformed, the term cozy refers to mystery stories featuring amateur sleuths. The conference tips its hat to the grand dame of the cozy, Agatha Christie, for its name, and each year brings over 150 authors together with readers for a weekend of suspense, laughs, and lots of books.The slogan for Malice Domestic is "not everyone's cup of tea," but I'm
willing to bet the FlowCushion might be. I can tell you it was a great help on the drive up I-95, then up I-395 where the last ten miles of the trip slowed to the crawl. Typical for the DC beltway area, at least it is every time I go. While I pounded the wheel in frustration my backside was comfortable sitting on the alternating air pressure bladders. I didn't have that numb feeling in my legs like I usually do on such a long drive.Using the FlowCushion enhanced my relaxation at the conference, so that I didn't feel so exhausted when I got to the hotel. I could go straight to registration and check out a few seminars before I presented on my panel about writing short mystery stories. I only wished I thought to take it with me during the book signing, where I could have enjoyed at least an hour more of comfort as I signed copies of my novel, Pithed. Who knows, maybe I'll write my next mystery while sitting on FlowCushion...or feature the cushion in the book. Is it worth dying for? I don't know, but I'll bet Miss Marple might have enjoyed her tea better with it.
